Where did we come from?
Historical records show that a Baptist fellowship was active in the Hinton area by 1848 and that a Sunday School was operating. Initially they met in a home and later in a hall.
Rev Phillip Lane joined the fellowship as its first Pastor in August 1856. Rev Lane, being a master-builder and brick-layer, soon oversaw the construction of the existing main building and also contributed his skills to the work.
The building was formally opened on 16 July 1857 and at the time was the third Baptist Church building in Australia.
We are a tight-knit and vibrant church community with a passion to serve Christ and love others. With a rich history deeply rooted within our church, we share a heart to pray and care for others and grow in our walks with Jesus. Please come and visit us sometime. We will be so happy to welcome you!
